This blog post is for men.
I’m learning that “meeting for coffee” should be rare and used only in the last resort as a way to hang out with your bros.
Can you really look at the world around you and everything you could be doing with your body and mind and tell me that your best way of getting quality time with a male friend is sitting inside a Starbucks drinking some overpriced fancy coffee drink?
You could be hiking. You could be shooting guns. You could be fishing. You could be running up a mountain. You could be lifting weights. You could be gigging frogs. You could be tossing a football or shooting hoops. You could be skateboarding. You could be riding horses. You can talk and catch up while doing all of these.
Part of what makes us men is action – vigorous action. If we’re talkers, we should also be doers. Two bros with time to sit down in a coffee shop might not be getting all they can out of life.
But what if it’s a serious conversation that needs to happen? Well, physical activity is a great way to work out stress and get mental clarity. And nothing brings men together like sweating and through physical activity.
We modern men already spend too much of our lives sedate and indoors. Going forward, we should use as much (or more) creativity with our hangouts with the bros as we do for our dates with the ladies. And that creativity should be pointed at the outdoors and the active.
