Enjoy the Nightlife Without Wasting Your Money On Nightlife: The Glories of Saturday Night Lyft Driving

I’ve been taking a bit of a break from going out. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s expensive.

Atlanta has some wonderful nightlife, though – and I miss the excitement of going out to the theatre, or heading out to a dance club. The city is electric on Saturday nights, and it’s good just to be around the people and the possibility when those sparks start flying.

So what’s an (aspiring) frugal guy to do?

Drive for Lyft, of course!

When I’m driving through the city picking up passengers, I’m getting all of the excitement of being on the town – while making money.

Maybe I’m just odd, but I get vicarious enjoyment of Saturday night fun from my passengers.

One guy is heading home from restaurant work for the night. One lady is heading from a Mozart performance to a meal in a trendy part of town. Another woman is heading to be with friends at what seems to be a house party. The excitement of their nights rubs off on me. From the Lyft interaction alone, I get the thrill of meeting strangers, the purpose of exercising a skill, and the happiness of friendship and inclusion – things I would be hoping to get anyway if I went out dancing, for instance.

It’s a great deal. Even if I “have no life” that particular Saturday night, I can be a part of the nightlife with all of these lovely people. I can help make that nightlife possible. And did I mention I can make money?
